Post-dated from April 12 Iceland-Amsterdam flight:
It has finally started - I no longer understand the majority of the language spoken around me. This was bound to happen and I don't see it as a bad thing - on the contrary I am excited with the potential of absorbing something new. During our vacation, I'm not sure we will have the best opportunity to pick up a language however, due to the highly transitory and far-flung nature of our trip. Instead I look far forward to our eventual settling-down in a German-speaking country where we can expand upon our elementary level of knowledge.
